These records contain lists of the surveys received in the office along with supplemental information varying with each volume. All record the name of the owner, the quantity of land in each tract, and the date on which the survey was received in the office. Beginning with the volume for period May 1780-November 27, 1794, the amount of the fee received is given. The first two volumes indicate whether the survey was initiated by the payment of composition money or the presentation of a warrant. The volume for 1794-1799 noted the tax of 42 cents placed on each assignment. Inverted and reversed in the back of the volume for 1779-1785 is a four-page account of the tax money received between 1782 and 1785 on grants exceeding 1,400 acres. At this time there was a tax of 5 shillings on each 100 acres above 1,400 in a grant. This series containis: a) October 10, 1779-January 3, 1785; b) August 1787-November 22, 1794; c) November 27, 1794-September 30, 1799; d) January 1, 1812-May 5, 1838; e) May 29, 1838-September 22, 1854; f) October 2, 1854- March 9, 1888.
